Is it normal to have no use for a cell phone whatsoever?

I own a cell phone but I rarely even use it. It's not that I don't like them I just don't have a use for them. I can't see why anyone would throw away so much money just have the ability to talk to someone anytime they want. I grew up in the 90s when cell phones were still pretty rare and I don't think anyone in my family had one until about 1999. We did without them just fine then and I don't see why everybody is so hooked on them now. Sure, they come in handy but I would be perfectly fine not owning one, It would not bother me very much at all.

In all honesty I'm not a very sociable person and even if I was I don't think I would want to talk to someone all the time. I don't have that much to say. I see people risking their lives to text while driving or talking to someone on the phone while using the bathroom and I just wonder what could be so urgent to tell someone that it couldn't wait until they were done.

I hate all technology...the people who use it become super weird, antisocial and socially dysfunctional

I grew up in the nineties too and trust me, had cell phones been more common back then, my family would have found much use for them.

I guess it's normal if you don't do much and people don't really need to contact you. For me, it is much better than a home phone. I don't stay in my house much, I have work and school and family matters. If someone were to call me house phone and need something urgently (like my boss needing someone to come in to fill for a no call no show)I likely won't get that call for many hours.

I also like being able to look things up wherever. Whenever I see a word that I don't know or an animal, plant, tree, insect, or anything that I am unfamiliar with, I just look it up then and there rather than promise to look it up later and forget =/

I have an iPhone, but I don't even have phone service for it. If I was out of the house more, or if I had a job, I would need a cell phone, though.

When you have kids you'll then see why having a cell phone is important.

Yeah; I never use my phone either, really except for emergencies. I always say, if you wanna get in touch with me, hit me up on Facebook or You Tube or something because I'm always online. I hardly ever answer my phone and text messeges go unnoticed. I just got my new phone, though; a smart phone, and I can use internet with this baby, so maybe things might change.

I grew up on the 90's too and thought beepers were so sophisticated. Well not really but ya know. I never thought I would have a cell phone but it turns out I needed one. I still don't have a landline and probably never will. There are plenty of times when I just want to smash the shit out of this cell phone but then I couldn't come to this site so I don't smash it. But I do get very frustrated with the whole thing, especially since people just can't seem to wait to text or make a call. I'll always have a cell phone but still refuse to Facebook. That will remain the same
