Is it normal to have OCD i.e. obsessive compulsive disorder of cleanliness?. My family members have consulted to the expert but it was of no use.

You're asking if having a "disorder" is normal. No, it's not normal. It's a disorder.

It's normal for people with OCD to be preoccupied with cleanliness to the point of excess.

It's not normal to have OCD, which is a mental illness.

Do you mean people in your family talked to an expert about your obsessive behaviour? I'm not sure what you mean.

If that's all they did then how would that change anything unless you had therapy from this "expert" and possibly medication?

its probably more annoying to everyone around you than you. If you live alone you can be as neat as you like...my husband is a neat freak and it really causes problems sometimes. I call him Granny Pickypants and he calls me his Little Blob.

This would be more like OCPD, not OCD.

        Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder.

With OCD, you have obsessions (i.e. always thinking about locking the doors to your house), and compulsions to make yourself feel better (i.e. locking each door 5 times in the morning).

OCPD is more of a preference for cleanliness or locked doors.

Okay, I've heard of that, I just wasn't aware of it being commonly abbreviated to OCPD.
