Is it normal to have period pains when on contraceptive?

I take contraceptive shots every 3 months, I'm not sexually active I just use them because I don't like periods as they can be a huge mess.
Is it normal for a woman to still experience period pains without the blood? Like i.e. Stomach cramps and headaches?

    Depending on how long you’ve been taking the shots it may be normal, but you need to consult with your doc. Good luck.
