Is it normal to have several projects at once/clean closets/make beds

My husband and I are at odds on this issue: today I was cleaning a bedroom, had the bed torn apart, blankets on the floor in another room, furniture in the hallway so I could move the bed around and vacuum while I was either talking on the phone, checking recipes, answering email or talking on facebook. It irritated him to have to walk around or step over the blankets on the floor in the other room. "Why do you have to have stuff all over the house? Can't you just COMPLETE one project at a time?" Granted, I had things in disarray but by 5:00 p.m. everything was done. So it's my day off (he doesn't work) and I was taking my time; no schedule, no bosses breathing down my neck...

Whenever I'm going to do any major cleaning that may inconvenience others in the house, I let them know well in advance. Usually, I get very little flak for this because everyone knows that the cleaning must be done, and they don't want to do it.
