Is it normal to have the urge to put yourself in harm's way?
Lately, not constantly, when I see a potential fatal scenario I feel compelled to jump into it. For instance, these urges range from wanting to wander off into the woods without a word to anyone, to inhaling water in the bath, to full-on stepping into moving traffic. I have to mentally AND physically stop myself as of late.
I'm not depressed or anything like that, I'm a happy person, so I don't know what would cause it. This is a very recent thing. I told my doctor and she basically threatened to have me committed for 72 hour involuntary confinement in a psychiatric hospital for being a danger to myself when I really don't think that's the case. Is it normal to have these random urges?
