Is it normal to have to force yourself to eat?

So let's start off with a bit of background info:

I'm a 20 y/o male who has been clean off of opiates for eight months now, and I used to be a fucking lardass. I'm 5'7 and at the height of my awful habits I weighed 220 pounds, obviously very overweight. So when I got clean one of the first things I worked on was my weight loss, and long story short, I weigh 160 now.

So my question for anyone else who has lost a lot of weight healthily, is it normal to have to constantly remind yourself to eat? I've gotten so used to the hunger pangs by now that I really don't notice them unless I cognitively think back to how long it has been since I last ate. Usually it's no more than 24 hours at a time but there have been occasional 48 hour stretches because it just slips my mind. I do stay hydrated and drink only water, another drastic change from my old habits.

Thanks for sticking out my long and probably over-detailed post.

lmao, I'm secure enough in my masculinity that the off-handed remark doesn't bother me. Anorexia aint chicks only, dude. I'm not skinny like a corpse either, so it's not like my body is going through anything traumatic.

I can't answer the normal/not question, and I know you didn't ask, but you really need to begin paying a lot of attention to your health if you want to be healthy later in life. During your addiction you treated you body very badly and though your weight loss is a huge step towards being healthy in itself, it probably wasn't done in conjunction with a dietitian.
I'm guessing you've made this grand change in your life because you want to live a long and healthy life. In order to do so, you need to educate yourself on how to eat healthy. Then perhaps eating will be less of a struggle and more of a pleasure.
    Good luck.

I think you're on to something with that. Eating healthily has been something I sort've skimped on and made up for it by simply adding more cardio. I guess I was more concerned about the immediate result, which there again brings in my addictive personality. Thanks for the insight though, seriously. I needed an outside voice to point me in that direction.

I only eat food once it's 42 years old. As I need an older, more experienced taste to satisfy my hunger.

It's good you are bettering yourself and don't desire to die a disgusting lard ass from cardiovascular disease.

My friend lost about as much as you by running 4 miles a day and following the Atkins Diet. Good for you now all you need is a healthy dose of pussy cause there's no way you got laid having that disgusting fat-body

First of all that is freaking awesome that you are off opiates....I dont know how long you were on them but opiates can slow down digestion and you probably were cleaning out toxins from your body....the important thing is health..at least try to eat healthy food everyday....if you dont like to eat oh well..but maybe you could get shakes qnd drink water and eat fruits and vegtables and take a vitamin mineral supplement

You're doing fine. You have another 30 pounds until you hit 130 which would give you a BMI of 20. Stop there.
