Is it normal to have violent/graphic dreams?

I have dreams about all kinds of things but most of the time they include violence, gore, and graphic content. Is there any reason for this or is it normal to have these kinds of dreams?

    Occasionally I act violently in dreams. It’s just the brain just flushing out some repressed hostility. Very healthy.

    If I had those type of dreams, I’d try to connect them to traumatic experience in my past. They’re a message from your subconscious about something you’ve wanted to forget.
