Is it normal to immerse oneself in a book and detach from reality?

At times, when reading a very interesting book, it feels like my soul gets immersed in the world of the story in a pretty intense manner.

Thus, at times I find it difficult to pay attention to what's going on around me.

It also makes me feel guilty that the book becomes so important in comparison to actual life and realities.

Is it normal? and to what degree?

Sometimes I get so into a book I literally don't go to sleep until the really early hours of the morning and then as soon as I wake up I have to start reading it again. I finished a really big thick book in a day once...that's when I didn't have Uni and had the time. I say it's normal

I'm the same way. I loved reading books and did it all the time before I had access to the Internet. I kind of miss those days, so I'm going to get back into the habit soon.
