Is it normal to just cut off inflamed taste buds?

I get one from time to time that just annoy me and if I just cut them off the pain, at first hurts, but then after things heal up way faster compared to if I just left it alone. Does anyone else just get a pair of clippers (after wiping them down with rubbing alcohol) and cut them off?

This sounds like herpes. Put down your “surgical equipment” and see a doctor.

It's not herpes, that doesn't happen to a single taste bud on your tongue. Look up inflamed papillae and you'll know what I'm talking about. When I get it, it's only one though not as crazy as the images look.

Hell if I know, but I'm pretty sure I used to get what the OP is talking about. Haven't thought about it for years (they aren't something you miss, really), but I now wonder if it was something to do with me being a heavy smoker at the time.

I don't smoke, (I can't I have asthma) but I am stressed out a lot and really love spicy foods. XD I don't like bland foods, they are boring and lifeless.
