Is it normal to keep pulled permanent teeth?

I had to have several permanent teeth pulled a few years ago for orthodontic reasons. I kept the teeth after they were pulled. My family tells me this is weird. I just put them in a drawer and never threw them away. Is this normal?

    I too kept one of my wisdom teeth. Because it's huge and because it took like three sessions to take it out and it was extremely painful.
