Is it normal to keep slugs as pets? I have a habitat with pet slugs of two species. I think they’re really really cute and I like to take care of them. I feed them and mist them and collect their eggs if they lay them and put them in a separate incubator for hatching. I also even buy them things like cuttlefish bones (for calcium) and a special substrate for them. The slugs seem to be happy but I get treated weird at school when I tell people about my hobby of raising and caring for slugs. I also enjoy anything slug/snail related and buy cute little statues and plushies of Gastropoda. Is this normal? Do you have any thoughts?

    While slugs aren't exactly "common" pets, there is nothing wrong with keeping them. You seem to be taking good care of them, so you're perfectly fine

    I do not know how this can be weird. Probably other people do this too, it just isn't common and many people do not like them. I also like slugs since i was a little child.
    I wouldn't mind to care for slugs in a little habitat xD
    Animals and Insects are both pretty interesting, even i find some disgusting and would never touch them, but they are still alive and organic. Nothing weird here

    It's weird but ain't nothing wrong with it. Most people find slugs disgusting so it's good to hear at least someone likes them lol

    Nah slugs are pretty cool. Had an ex that used to be some kinda slug mom, they're pretty entertaining to watch them eat.

      My slugs are extremely healthy and I even make sure they’re getting all kinds of nutrition and minerals they need :)

    You learn an awful lot from keeping things like that as pets. It's like a little scientific experiment that is also your pet

    My friend's family kept snails as pets in terrarium.
    Ordinary, wild, lettuce eating, gender changing, slime producing snails.

    I think, it is nothing weirder, than having a spider as a pet.

    No. But if a guy told me that I would ask to meet them interested. Now if he has a spider I'm out. Instantly undateable
