Is it normal to know what to strudy but not what career i want?

So I like psychology and criminology. That's not really important but I just thought I'd throw it out there. Anyway I love studying these subjects. They're so interesting, but I don't know what to do with them. Everytime I tell people what I'm majoring in they say "Oh so you want to be a cop." No, I don't think I want to be a cop. No offense to cops. You're my heros but I want something more. Anyway I don't know what and I don't even know if it'll involve Psych. or Crim. I'm only 19 and yes I know I still have time so spare me the lecturing comments about how I have time to figure this out, but I've felt this way since my sophomore year in high school. So the fact that it hasn't changed kind of worries me. I've tried other subjects, but nothing else seems to interest me. Anyway the reason I'm asking is because I've noticed people think of what they want to do before they figure out what need to study. So I was just wondering if it's normal if I've got it backwards.

Forensic Psychology? I used to know some people who wanted to do that as a career, and it is a good combination of Psychology and Criminology.

I always choose subjects first. If you choose subjects you enjoy it makes sense to get to a career you enjoy. If you choose a career first, how are you supposed to know if you'd enjoy it? Most people I know are going the same way around as you are.

If you go ahead and decide to take these coarses and find out you hate these subjects, definitely dont be discouraged, it most likely just be doing readings and writing papers on bull shit. Pick up a psych. text book read a page, close it. If you can remember what you just read you probably are on the right track...

By doing those subjects it doesn't limit you to just going into jobs with those subjects. A LOT of employers will look out for people with similar skills that you may not have thought of - such as a lot of people with physics degrees are employed to work in city banks.
