Is it normal to lie about something when you didn't really need to?

In college, someone asked me if the reason I skipped class was because I was doing an assignment for the class and I said "yes," but in reality I just skipped class because I slept in. I don't know, I guess I just didn't want them to know I slept in? Then they found out later that I was lying...

  • Fibbing about petty stuff like that just shows you're a tad insecure about how you are perceived by people, which has it's roots in self-esteem.

Start working on your confidence; you have nobody to impress but yourself.

Reason could be because u were asked a close question (yes or no) so u just say yes because that will end the topic or conversation whereas if u say no u have to explain why. that's personally what I'd do in the mornin when I'm not in the mood to talk. so yeah normal

No shame in sleeping in. Maybe when ou said it it was kind of a split second decision. I've meant to say one thing but said something else before. Sometimes I'll tell a little lie because I know if I tell the truth that person will just bug me and I'm not in the mood to argue.

Sometimes I catch myself doing the same thing--just saying the first thing that comes to mind instead of the truth. It's not necessarily a good thing to get into--but pretty harmless.

Sometimes, I just go along with what people think because it would take to long to explain. It's a normal response, but sometimes the simple lies turn into something big. That's when you should really be worried.

I learned a long time ago not to lie. When you do something shitty or embarrassing it sucks to admit it when asked about it, but when people find out later you get in much more trouble and embarrassment!

I have not told a lie, to anybody (apart from the whole does this dress make me look fat type questions, haven't found a way around those yet)in a couple of years, and I find that not only do I avoid a lot of drama, but I also act like a much better person knowing I will be accountable for every action.

    I suggest it!
