Is it normal to lie about trivial things all the time?
When it comes to discussing my interests - music, books, films, whatever - I almost always give the opposite opinion to the one I actually hold. For instance, if someone asked me if I liked The French Connection, I would more than likely tell them that I hated it despite it being one of my favourite films.
It doesn't extend to important things or anything that has a real impact if I lie about it, just my interests and preferences. I just dislike the idea of someone knowing things about me and having things over on me so much that I feel more comfortable misleading them about small things like that.
So, is it just me? Or do other people do this too?
