Is it normal to like a thing but dislike it's associated ideas?

Ok this sounds a little more complicated than it is, i think.
Basically one example would be-
I dyed my bangs an unnatural color, and I find it to be aesthetically pleasing and go well with the rest of my look, but I don't like that inevitably people will assume things about me based on this aesthetic choice. While some things I must admit are true, I don't like the idea of people assuming they know those things based off of that specific factor.
For me this idea also goes for other things ranging from jewelry to political ideology.

Being a furry that's a big thing for me. A lot of people just assume that I sexualize furries, which I do, but that's besides the point. It's annoying that people just assume especially when not all furries do. Even when talking to people in the furry community some people will assume that I'm gay/bi because there is a disproportionally large percentage of gay/bi men in the furry community, which I'm actually straight.

so, like having a mohawk but not being associated by a trouble making punk? yeah, i think that's just dumb generalization, but i must say that i do it too.

I dont know, i also hate to wear something and people expecting me to be like someone i am not because of how i look.

That's why i'm always wearing trashy shit
