Is it normal to like a younger man?

Hello all. I am a 21 y/o woman and I have a friend who is 19 (turning 20 later this year). I have shown signs of liking him, but I'm afraid to admit it because he's younger. But we have a lot in common, and he's nice and seems mature. I fell in love with his band's music and I plan on travelling to see a show and hang out. He lives 8 hours away by car, or an hour and a half by plane, but I don't think distance matters. We text and Facebook quite often (I know virtual friends aren't always legit, but he is). I've pursued men up to 6 years older, but society doesn't look down on an older man and a younger woman as much as the other way around. I felt some additional details were needed, but my main question is, is it normal to have feelings for someone a year or two younger? Only nice/helpful comments please.

It's only a year or two. It's no big deal.

It's totally cool, the age difference is like less than 2 years, age is but a number my friend, GO FOR IT!

He's not that much younger than you, and if he's mature, then go for it.

Totally normal. I'm two and a half years older than my husband. We've been together since I was 21, and it was weird at first. I felt like a bit of a creep. Everyone teased me about being a cradle robber and while I knew it wasn't a big difference it still felt strange because I was the girl. I was used to being pursued by older men. Here was this guy who still had teen in his age. I could drink legally, he couldn't. A lot of factors early on made me feel weird about it, but I loved him (still do), and the feelings passed. Now I don't care at all. The last time I thought about the 2 1/2 years was when I turned 30 and he was still 27, and he teased me and called me his "old lady". Bastard.

  • That is not much of an age difference

It starts with a couple of years and then you will need to date younger and younger. It's a slippery slope soon you will be dating 9 year olds. This is how it starts. May as well call the police and turn yourself in now.
