Is it normal to like being addicted to things?

Is it normal to love being addicted to things? I used to have clinical depression when i was 14 if that helps. I was addicted to paracetamol, i'd get really annoyed and irritable if i couldn't have one... my mum found out and i went to the doctor to get my liver checked out in case i had liver damage from taking too much paracetamol. I don't have liver damage though so that's ok.... but anyway now I smoke and i love it. I promised my boyfriend i'd quit but i can't! I love it too much! I love the feeling of being dependent on something unhealthy.... I don't know why though. I've been addicted to loads of things in the past and loved being addicted to all of them. Is this normal?

Concerning lifestyle, yes. - they're called habits and can be good or bad.
Concerning health, no. - you should take care of your body. (smokers are just stupid - get out of this category)
Waste your time on something pointless and not your health, get addicted to an activity or TV show.

It means that you can not find emotional satisfaction in your everyday life, so you must substitute it with physical satisfaction.

Search yourself and your life and figure out what is dissatisfying you, then ask yourself WHY you do the things you do and then take steps to better your life. Happy people don't smoke. I quit smoking, and believe me, I am so much happier with my life it's not even a joke. I should have never started smoking, but now I am more grateful than ever for every clean breathe of air I take. Quit while you can, I smoked for 5 years and quit in two weeks, but it's the worst getting off of the stuff and some people never find the willpower to do it.

I'd suggest volunteering at a homeless shelter or at a clinic where there are many people suffering from the effects of drugs/tobacco and alcohol. You'll turn away from the stuff pretty damned quickly.

Just tell urself no ones gonna care if your liver fails or you die cause your life is your own, dont misuse it to 'impress' other people. Dont hurt your body to get attention cause most people either dont care or run away. Its not going to make other people think youre 'cool' or unique either. Treasure your body and mind; look towards the horizon and believe the sun will rise soon! : )
