Is it normal to like cold cotton fabrics between your fingers?

Ever since I can remember, (and I'm 47 now), I like to put the edge (or hem) of a cotton shirt between my fingers and sometimes toes. I don't know why I like the feeling of the cold from it, and at most times I can't stop myself from doing it. If I wear a cotton shirt, I walk around with the bottom of it between my fingers or sometimes scrunch the whole bottom of it in my hands and hold it tight (to feel the coolness in the palms of my hands).
I have also found that I get the same feeling from my hair. My hair is long. When it's brushed and smooth I put it between my fingers and if it's not pulled back into a ponytail I will sit for long periods at a time putting my hair behind my ear over and over to feel the coolness behind my ear. I even went as far as to try and put my hair behind my friend's ear to see if she could feel what I was feeling. She thought I was nuts! ((That was 30 years ago. We're still friends by the way lol)
I'm starting to feel embarrassed as I'm doing it in public now and can't stop myself. Is this an OCD? How do I stop it?

When I was a child the border of my childhood blanket came off. I then began running the boarder between my fingers. Sounds crazy but I'm almost 30. The original blanket border fell apart and I needed a replacement. Now I have several ribbons all over the house. They are usually found in my sleeve when not being ran through my fingers. I used to hide it....used to now it's a obsession! Most people in my life know about my "blanket" or "ribbon". Your not the only one.

My sister did this as a child and an adult. She calls it “twiddling” :) Her favorite material was a soft, silky material, like from her “puffalump” from her childhood.
