Is it normal to live in darkness?

My husband recently has developed an aversion to lights. He hates having any lights on in the house, even at night. He prefers to be in complete darkness. He thinks it's strange that I would want a light on. Is this normal behavior?

    This is Not Normal.

Could be a psychological thing, or an ophthalmic thing. If he's complaining of sensitivity to light, it would be a good idea for him to see an optometrist for a full examination.

See, I clicked this thinking "Oh, I can relate, I hate bright overhead lighting and use mostly dim ambient lights in my home!"

Then I read it, and no that's just.. weird. Did something happen to cause this aversion? Does he have any medical conditions that are exacerbated by bright lights? Is the the only major shift in his personality and actions or does it seem like something else could be going on with him?
