Is it normal to love her...

We've been together for 18 years, she's my first and last thought of the day, she's my world but is it normal to love your cat? I don't just mean love, I actually think I'm in love with her. If I could I'd actually marry her, not for anything sexual (although she is STUNNING) but purely because I love her.
I wouldn't be worried about it but I've noticed as I'm getting older it's starting to affect my life, I've split up with boyfriends over her, the other day I had to kick my friend out the house because she's allergic to my cat and she started sneezing; this distressed the cat so she had to go. Also I'm starting to get depressed as the cat is now 18 and getting very old, I literally don't know if I can manage life without her.
My phone background is of her, all of my facebook pictures are of her, I've got a tattoo of her name and a tattoo of her exact paw print on the back of my neck. I even changed my name to have her name as my middle name.
I don't know if this is the norm or is it verging on strange? I don't want her to rule my life but I fear she already is, I've stopped going out in the week incase she misses me too much, advice?

Cats are adorable. I loved my cat too, but sadly she passed on. She was amazingly beautiful, always there for me when I needed comfort. She totally understood me. She was an amazing friend minus all the bull shit drama that comes with human companions. I'm thinking about getting a kitten when I move out.

It's completely normal to love your cat but I do agree that balance is what you need. You should still be going out and doing regualr activites.
You can and should have a life that goes beyond your cat.

I understand that you love your cat, but she shouldn't be ruling out you boyfriends, friends, or your weekends. I don't mean any disrespect, but you should try spending some more time with your friends, and interacting with more people.

whoa ok...I would say that isn't very normal at all! but it's cool to like ur cat but she is only an animal, breaking up with people is more serious...sorry if that sounds harsh I don't mean it too

I have to admit that my eyes widened a bit when I read the she was a cat! I don't quite know what to say with this. You don't want a sexual relationship with her yet, you want to marry her. So, you what you want is a sexless partner ship? You know in some countries you can marry animals.

Is this odd? Yes, it is! Are you becoming obsessed? You most certainly are! You acknowledge that your cat might not live for many more years so in keeping that in mind, I suggest that you try to ween yourself off of this partner ship. You can still be a good owner but you have to stop with being so obsessive.

I love cats too and it's sweet that you're so close with her. But you said that you'd marry her, and no offense but that sounds a bit odd. I love my pets, but I don't think about marrying any of them lol...but to each their own I guess, as long as you don't try to have sex with her or anything like that. And, you shouldn't break up with bf's or throw your friend out of the house because of her; you could've just kept your friend and the cat away from each other if at all possible. And I'm sorry to hear she may be dying soon, I'll be sad when my pets die too. You can always get a new pet after she's gone. It's understandable that she'll never be replaced in your heart, but you'll have a new pet to love and care for.

Just curious, what's her name? I'm just wondering because you said you changed your middle name to her name lol

I guess I'm being weird, as usual, but I think that's adorable! But if you don't think you can handle it, you should see a therapist. Anyway, your cat is getting old. You should go a little more out, meet people. Just so that you don't do something drastic when she dies. Because, you know her life is coming to an end. Maybe you could stuff her so that you can keep her when she goes.
