Is it normal to love the smell of wet soil

when watering my beloved plants, its the smell of that wet soil thats so rich and aromatic, i LOVE the smell of it. Does anyone else have this affinity for the smell of wet soil/plant dirt?

I may just be somewhat allured altogether by plants: sometimes I talk to them as though they were "infants" to be tended to, and i absolutely love to watch them grow stronger, taller, bigger every time i water them. Osmosis, photosynthesis, chloroplasts, plant anatomy...etc all comes to mind when i water my plants. Does anyone else talk to their plants? or my original question: enjoy the smell of wet plant soil?

Is this normal?

    i LOVE the smell of wet soil and rain. It is the best smell in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes! I feel exactly the same way!

    Different qualities of dirt give of different smells. Poor dirt has a interesting smell, but as the quality goes up the aroma gets richer and earthier.

    I've been told that I have a green thumb. I used to stick homemade "elixirs" to rejuvenate the plants. It worked well and made them nice and healthy, but if left their for too long and not properly rinsed it could cause fermentation. I did other experiments, but they needed soil to work.

    I have a interesting collection of plants. Outside, I have been growing a variety of sunflowers and inside I have a energetic giant mammoth that has been growing inside the house since about march. Whereas, the ones outside were only planted a few weeks ago. I also love cactuses. I currently have four: Zygo, Moon Cactus, Ming Thing and a Ballon Cactus. I wish I had more, but there's not much room left so I'd have to stick them outside.

    I do have a affinity for them. I feel like they are my children and I even named the houseplants for fun. It's normal:D

    Yes. There is a light mist today and the plants are in heaven after a hot day. The sky is gray but the earth is happy. I can feel their contentment and the air smells so good. So good.

    The smell of plants, wet dirt, and wet potting soil is pure bliss.

    yes and i like the smell of moss, all thick and soft, if there was fairies in this world theyd sleep on moss
