I have been with my boyfriend for 10 years and we've lived together for 5. I got a miniature schnauzer a few years ago when he was a pup. If I had to save one of them from a burning building - I'd choose the dog. Is this normal?
Your dog will never get mad at you, will never yell at you, will never judge you and always be happy to have you as their owner, they make you happy when you are sad just by the way they look at you, they protect you when you are scared and they are loyal, I think it's normal to love your pet as a part of the family. I'm sure if it really came down to the fire thing, you would try saving both, it's the human thing to do.
Ask your boyfriend to dress up as a dog. Maybe that'll kickstart your relationship.

You must have an awful boyfriend, since your pet is nicer to you your normal reaction is to save and protect what (evidently) loves you more. it's normal. in fact since most humans are arrogant gits I personally think animals are better company.
No in my opinion. How would you feel if he saved the dog instead of you if there was a fire?
I knew a girl who had this small dog and she had taught him to do very naughty things to her. I'll bet you've trained your dog to do the same. Either that, or you're just one sick-assed freak!
I love my cat more than any human I'm close to...including my husband. But my husband is evil (whole other topic lol)
