Is it normal to make really dry jokes?

I was talking with a friend about shooting a short comedy skit with the friends. My friend said she was hesitant about the idea because she thinks my comedy is too dry... I think I will just stick to the camera work.

Is it normal to think something is funny when the rest of society thinks it is not funny at all?

  • I think there's a sort of bell curve for dry humour. Some people are on the parched end and others are on the sopping wet end, but the majority of people are in the middle.

It doesn't mean that you are not funny, if you make dry jokes. It just means that only others who share your same sense of humour will find you funny and, unfortunately, the majority of people might not.

It may also have to do with where you live. Some cultures are more open to dry humour than others.
