Is it normal to misidentify objects near the edge of vision?

Sometimes I misidentify objects when I don't directly look. Like when I was just passing a bunch of clothes piled up, I thought it was a human but when I directly looked I recignized what it is. That started to happen more frequently, should I go see a doctor?

You are most likely in need of an eye exam.

I'd see an ophthalmologist (a Dr who specializes in the eyes)

I know I could just Google it but I like the way you explain things. What's the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist?

An optometrist is a technician who has learned how to determine eye distortion and what kind of corrective lens prescription you need. They have also learned how to so several eye test concerning eye health; but cannot prescribe medication or treatment if they believe there is a problem. If they believe there is an eye problem that requires attention they send you to an ophthalmologist.

An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in eye health. They can write prescriptions for corrective lenses, and prescribe other medication or treatment, and even do eye surgery (although not all of them do that).

I wish you the best with your eye issue.
