Is it normal to miss the old days?

So, I'm an adult with a full time job and a wife. I really miss the old times. I miss being younger. When I was younger my best friend was my uncle (2 years older than me). We grew up together and shared a lot of the same activities and interests. I really miss spending time with him. We had so much fun together. Since, basically, my only parent was my single mom for so long, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents house, where my uncle lived. We did almost everything together. Now, obviously, I'm older and we live about 1600 miles away from each other. We aren't near as close as we used to be and spending any kind of time together is increasingly more difficult. I know there are plenty of people out there in similar situations and here is your chance to put your feelings out there. Let me know how you feel. I will do my best to respond to comments.

Soooo normal. I have adult kids now. I miss my youth and my friends. I didn't have any brothers or sisters. All my cousins lived and still live 3000 miles away. My parents are gone. But I am still friends with a girl I knew in second grade and another in highscool. BUT one lives out of state and the other lives 500 miles away. I hear what you are saying.

It's normal. But remember that you're making more "old days" right now and some day you're gonna miss them as much as you do your current old days! :)

Normal, just don't get caught up in it. Focus on present.

I miss the onld days. I miss waking up in the early morning, smelling how nice it is outside, being able to go out in the rain, get dirty, sitting by the heater with my coat on in the summer, going outside and playing on my swing set, playing with the stray cats in out area, going over old friends houses, getting into trouble, acting stupid, sleeping in everyday... Im rather sad by the fact everyone cant have fun like that all the time.

Exactly as ybnormal says!! You might not notice, but someday you'll eventually say to yourself: "damn, I sure miss those days" and they probably aren't going to be so far behind! Basically, live everyday to the max, because TODAY you shall miss tomorrow.
My father is a Uruguayan diplomat, ever since I was 3 we've been changing countries, losing friends and starting from scratch ! I went from living in a beautiful house near the beach in portugal, to almost not having a thing here in uruguay, and i was to little to even remember what it was like in Sweden, were I went before Portugal. How many times have I thought the same thing as you? Tons. And the only thing I wanted to do was try to live it again, try to restore the previous conditions that, to my amazement, were NEVER the same again. So even in the bad days, you should never be sad. Happiness is made out of moment. For you and me, memories are pretty happy, and it SUCK BIG TIME but ithats the way it is...
