Is it normal to never know what to say when talking over the net?

This is insane. It takes me forever to formulate my thoughts to come up with something decent to say when I'm talking to someone on a social site like Facebook. It is possible that I'm over thinking my replies too much? This has been happening for as long as I can remember. If I can't think of anything, I just leave the person hanging for days until something pops into my head. It's even worse when the person give extremely long replies. I like talking over the internet, but this is driving my crazy. Can anyone give me advice on how I can get over this? you would think talking to people for years on social sites would make it easier, but it has gotten to the point where I refuse to talk to people.

Practice is the probably the only solution for this, otherwise you may just have to talk to people over the phone or in person. For me it's the opposite. I find texting and messaging to be much easier than verbal communication.

I find both sometimes hard, but some people are easier to talk to than other over the net. I'm not a big talker at all in real life. I'm an introvert, so talking in person makes me pretty uncomfortable.

You're doing fine so far. Maybe it's the lack of a good subject like now. I particularly hate small talk.
