Is it normal to not act your age?

im 18 and im childish..
i take things lightly..
and lately its been bothering me and i feel guilty for being like it..
people my age like my other classmates are getting into serious relationships..
my bestfriend is marriend and she has a kid now..
i mean i know i dont have problems in my brain or something but i just think that there is more to my life than being just soooooo serious and possibly die the next second..
is it normal?

I'm 19, and going on 20 on Easter Sunday(the 24th), and honestly, I don't even feel my age at all! I'm kinda weird though, because I notice that I never actually act my age. I usually act either younger, like a 16 yr old, or older like a 25 yr old, but never really my exact age.

Plus, I don't really party or anything like that, so I think that also makes me feel like a child. But frankly, I don't have any interest to party at all. I have a lot of coworkers who I just started getting close with, and they're all around 22-25. They seem to be really into partying. And they're always trying to push me to hang out with them, but I'd much rather do something more along the lines of hiking, swimming, fishing, watching a musical, going out for lunch, etc.

And it sucks when they ask me what I do for fun, because I don't really drink or anything like that, so I feel like an oddball telling them, "Oh, I love writing, and music! Oh, and I enjoy walking my dog too". They look at me like I'm stupid or something. I guess, that's common interests of a 12 year old... ???

Just be yourself. And at the end of the day, just ask yourself if you're happy with who you are. Sometimes I like being immature anyway. It beats being so serious all the time.

It's ok, I'm 19 and have some stuffed pets, and I like some kiddish shows/movies. I sometimes watch spongebob when it's on, and I loved the movie rio :)

  • Im like the opposite! I act way over my age. My friends dont even consider me their age. If you hit puberty later that is the reason. I Have a friend who hit puberty at 17 and he is really immature. If i were you I wouldnt care. Just be who you are!

You sound like my boyfriend, he's twenty with my mind of a 16yr old, attention of a 7yr old, picky as a 4yr old and energy of a 10yr old. So long as he 'pulls it together' for nice nights out and posh functions, we can hoof around for ages.
I'm 19, and I act more like 30. I've the humor of an Edwardian woman though: I appreciate comedy, but if it's crude or vile: guillotine. Aha.

  • I feel the same except in my case im not childish or serious since I was a kid I remember only acting certain ways so that I wouldnt be seen as wierd but in reality I would want to just sit down and close my eyes and not hear anything.

Don't worry, you're fine. Being child-like is the only thing that keeps me going sometimes. I'd hate to be any other way and can't understand why anyone else would want to be.
