Is it normal to not agree with my parents on...

My parents are both heavy christians. I've believed i was until i was about 10, i started to question if god was real. I am not a belever anymore, i dot have any faith in the lord. But i dont know how to tell my parents. Ive gone with them to church all the time, even after i didnt beleve, just because i didnt know how to tell them. Any idea how to break the news?

Don't tell them until you're in college and depending on your own! I have christian relatives and I had made the mistake to tell some that I'm not a christian. I've been having to deal with negativity, being told that I'm lying and " just impressionable", that my religion is evil, etc. Trust me on this! I don't know how much longer you'll have to wait before you can move out so for now, play along with it or have a backup incase they disown you or kick you out of the house.

    Good Luck!

My family is anti-church, so telling them that I was starting to go to church was a process, a continuing, difficult process. Part of it is showing them that your quitting religion does not affect who you are towards them and how you will treat them. Also, be sure to respect their beliefs as well. Don't go in, guns drawn, ready to attack their beliefs. Just state to them that it's not for you and you don't feel as if you are doing the church any justice by going in there when you are just not that into it.

Damn social rules and people who can't accept that their path isn't right for everyone. Like Avant-Garde said, wait until you move out. And even then, be cautious. Some parents are cool with it, but some can be very... prickish...

When your a adult, you can think for yourself.

Just don't tell your parents that they can't be christians since they have a right to their belif too.

Lol, I know- I'm just one of those grammar nazis around here that has this urge to point out spelling mistakes when I see them. I wouldn't take it that seriously.

I'd be careful too: I'd trust the Lord more than your parents. ;-)
