I'm the same way. I cant seem to read over a page or two. I often don't understand what I just read and the longer I read the harder it gets.
This could be a sign of ADHD or another mental disorder. I would let someone look after that.
Not being able to read without forgetting it a few moments later definitely doesn't sound normal to me. Reading is not just good for fun, it's something you WILL need in life, so you should attack this problem asap.
Remembering 2+2=4 is not the same and understanding to get 4 by adding 2+2.
That is actually normal if you don't comprehend or don't enjoy what you are reading. Material sticks more if done with the right process or something you really enjoy and understand. You could recite math problems to someone all day. If they don't understand its that's like speaking Chinese to someone who only knows English. They are not learning anything they are just listening to you talk.
this may sound silly but i feel a bit worried what people would think if they found out i cant read a book, would they laugh at me?
No its not normal to not be able to read. How old are you? Also if you cant read how were you able to write this? To write you have to be able to read. Did you ask someone else to write this for you? I would say try and find a special tutor since if you are not reading past 18 its not normal.
