Is it normal to not identify with people of my age group?

Sure,I know that there are mature, intelligent people in my age group (I'm 21). But at most college campuses and in social setting I feel like the only mature person in the room. am im just being a tart.

What's a tart? I've never heard that term to classify anyone before. Anyways, if you're that bored with the people around you then go to a library. People tend to be mature on account of the formal behavior required in that setting. Speaking of settings, you cannot blame people for acting immature when they're around their friends. Eventually you'll meet someone who'll you'll do stupid stuff with because you like their company and being around him/her.

Sry, I spent a few years in England :) A tart is like a sourpuss or an uptight person. And I'm acually typing this in a library, which is where I spend most of my days.

Try mingling while you're there. You might just find someone to talk to

I'm basically a 29 year old teenager. For instance, I lit a bag of crap on fire the other night and put it on someones doorstep.

    Extremely normal!!!
I prefer talking and spending time with people 3-5 years older than me, cause they are much more mature than persons of my age, and we have similar interests.
    Do not worry about it

Believe me, you aren't a tart:)

I'm the same way. I'm in my late teens and I don't like my peer group. I know that there are some that are very mature but the majority that I've met are: immature, shallow, uneducated, etc. I don't get along with them at all but ever since I was young, I've gotten along much better with older people. There's something that just "clicks" into place with them.

I'm 18 and I feel the same way. College has made me become completely ageist. I look around like, really? Are you all this stupid short-sighted and immature? We're in college, damn it.

I completely understand. I've never quite got along with people my own age. Not due to immaturity or lack of intelligence though. Honestly a lot of the older friends I have are waaaaay more immature than some of my younger friends. It is just due to mutual interests.

I get along better with people younger than me. People my age are normally too serious. I still feel young and like to do fun things

I think this is normal, I don't hang around people my age. All my friends and family are older then me. Everyone my age are into things that don't interest me fads, and tv shows like jersey shore.

What's your idea of "mature and intelligent" and why do you think your peers aren't?
