Is it normal to not know what you fear?

I've always been asked if I was afraid of something, and each time I've always said "I'm not sure. I still haven't figured it out." Some people look at me in disbelief and others just say "Well, everyone is afraid of something", but I'm not sure if I am.

Are you afraid to reveal your identity on this post? If not, could you tell us something that makes you uncomfortable to speak of - a sexual desire, a big mistake you made, a secret? A lot of fears are social.

When you feel a pressure rising out of your spine into the base of your skull and your muscles begin to lock up, that is fear. If it gets hard to think clearly and the urge to flee is foremost on your mind, then that is fear.
Everybody gets afraid, it's how they handle it that determines the outcome. No need to feel ashamed of fear.

I know that there's nothing to be ashamed of, but I still haven't felt that.
