Is it normal to not know what you want to do in life

I am so confused on what I want to do in life, I want to be a musician but then again it is extremely hard to make it, so I really don't have a back up plan, im 18 and I am trying to decide if I want to go to college or no because I really dont like any of the majors at the colleges, I want to do something with music but when I looked into the music schools they where extremely expensive, Im just confused, is it normal to just have a break down every night and just start thinking about things way in the future?

  • We all have thoses days. You should start with something anything that has to do with the music career and see what you think. The only mistake you can make is to chose to sit there and do nothing. When I get lost on something I'd search for inspiration to remember why I chose this goal and once I find it I head out blindly. Take out all your negative thoughts and stop dwelling on them just look at your goal and you and accomplish it. So what if you make a few mistake along the road its a part of life we all make mistakes deal with it and move on.Start anywhere in the musical career and find out what you like best. Its ok if your first few clases you take you didnt like as long as you never give up and keep moving forward you'll get to it. Everythings ok your young and you have time to corect your mistakes. Calm down and take a chilpill, no worries hakuna matata. c:

I'm in the same position. I'm about to start the third year of my psych degree, but I've lost just about all interest and motivation I had at the start. I have no idea what else I could do, so I'm sticking with psych and will see what happens. As it is, I am dreading the future.

Go to a nice community college, take something your interested in, it won't really hurt. Good luck to you

Why don't you just go to your local college and major in music education or something?

at most maybe take some community college classes and see if anything strikes your fancy. chill. stop comparing yourself to others. stop thinking about your age as a standard. consider that we are going to be in a recession for quite a while so don't go into debt or take any loans. you are free now. without putting yourself at risk do what you love. find out who you are. don't make any rash decisions based on someone elses dream or someone elses idea of who YOU are or what they want. you only live once.
