Is it normal to not leave the house for long periods?

Is it normal to not go out much?

I am currently unemployed, so I find myself not leaving my house for long periods of time.

I go on the internet, watch TV, I am studying at home, play piano, do some exercise sometimes...

But quite often I don't even leave my house for days at a time, sometimes up to a week!

I imagine most people go out quite a lot, even if it's just to the shops/post office or whatever, but I don't have much desire to. If my friends haven't called me to go out somewhere, I am quite happy at home mostly. After a week I get a bit bored and restless, but I could probably stay in much longer before I started to really go crazy! :s

I do want to be more active, and am stuck in a bit of a rut right now, but I think most people wouldn't be able to stay at home for long like me without getting restless.

How about you?

What is the longest you have not left your house?
(That is, if you didn't have to go out for work).

I need to go out everyday 0
1 day 9
2 days 9
3 days 4
4-5 days 9
6-7 days 5
1 week + 35
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I don't have a job either, and quite honestly I don't feel like lookin, I know I should but I just can't get motivated. Plus the cold weather! I feel like a recluse. I worked in Retail, What kind of job are you lookin for? And the jist of it is the longer u sit at home the more. u wanna stay inside U?

I think it's been a month and half since I last got out, I haven't contacted any of my friends since I've graduated college.. It's quite enjoyable being alone for a while.. long while..

If I didn't have to work, I would probably stay in for a good while. I hate going out often.

Why is it necessary to reply with a Japanese term?

    Thanks for your comments.

It seems I am an amateur.

Like you say DiamondGirl, I think it's true the more you stay in the more you want to stay in. I normally get dragged out by friends after a week or so, but otherwise I would stay in longer probably.

Now we have the internet, there is less need to go out, you can do and get everything you need. But if you live in a virtual world you miss out on things in the real world. I don't think it's very healthy. There are interesting experiences to be had on the 'outside'.

Sinep, it is enjoyable being alone for while. A month and a half is quite long though. Perhaps you should go out, or you will turn into a hikikomori.
