Is it normal to obsess so much over this dog?

So back in April of this year, we got a new puppy, 12 weeks old and he went through the usual habits of a playful little puppy. One of the things I have noticed though, is my mom, the owner of this new puppy, is very lax in disciplining him. Anytime he used to snap or nip at people, we would tell him no and leave the room. *What we're supposed to do* but he didn't take to it.

We suggested to her that everytime he gets over excited now and starts biting and nipping to throw him in his crate for 5 min, let him cool down then let him back out. She does, but instead she leaves him in there for an hour or two, or puts him outside for an hour then comes back in.

I'm pretty sure he has the idea that "I can bite all i want" cause, he hasn't stopped. To top it off, she gives him treats, even when he's being an idiot. *Biting people* to get him into his crate for an hour or two, to nap.

He's almost 6 months old now, and she still insists we stay quiet while he sleeps. Even calling me a "Fucking idiot" for "Trying to wake the dog up." I'll be walking up the stairs and get yelled at for exactly that. Not saying a word, or anything, just heading up the stairs.

To me, this seems obsessive, like the dog owns her now. The result I JUST KNOW, is this dog nipping someone to "Playfully" and ending up euthanized. Is what she is doing normal? It can't be, can it?
