But you are using the physical PC to host a virtual machine, so you're actually using them both.
Also, there is still a layer of interface between virtual and physical (to allow you to copy and paste between them, for instance) and this interface could be classed as an attack surface for viruses, malware, etc.
I've used virtual PCs (for this and other reasons) and, largely, it worked. What worked best, though, was a separate physical machine with no networking (no internet access, wireless or other private networking of any kind).
Ok, I have minor understanding of operating systems, but why is it that you do this?
I dont know, to keep my games safe on my real pc,
But the last months i never used my real pc
Ok, well since you seem to have a practical purpose behind it, I will say that it is normal. I don't know if it would be very common though.
Well... I spend about 1000$ on it and the virtual pc can run on something that cost about 200$
How does it keep your games safe?
My 4 simple rules for a safe computer:
1-Have an up to date firewall and virus scanner
2-Have an up to date version of windows
3-Keep the cd backups of the software (or make them if they came preinstalled in the comp.)
4-Most importantly, no matter how horny you are, do not download that .exe file SexyGirl69 is sending you...
If you're worried about security just get a mac with Lion on it. They don't get viruses and are the most secure things you can buy.
