Is it normal to pick at my hair and eyebrows?

Okay, so I tend to pick at my eyebrows and hair. A lot of times I don't realize it. A lot of time the hair and eyebrows come out and I can see bald patches. It seems like something that would be easy to just stop, but for some reason I can't. =/ is this normal?

I know two people who have this. It's called "trichotillomania" if you want to search it on the web. It has a name and a diagnoses so regardless of what people say here, it common enough to have a name.

It's kind of like nail biting or lip chewing. It often will get worse at times of anxiety and worry. It's like a stress reliever but it's done in a habitual way so it's almost subconscious.

The best way to get over it is will power. It's an addiction like any other, and it becomes especially hard to address if you're on auto pilot and don't even notice you've done it until you see the bald patches (are you aware while you're doing it?). Pay attention and watch for when you do it, and at these times distract yourself with something else you like to do instead, and continue to do this (being aware of it at all times) until you do not do it anymore.

Eventually you will break the habit in your mind and you will not do this any longer. There are cognitive behavioral therapists that can help you work through it if you can't do it on your own. :)

What Zoe said . You really need to talk to a professional about it , most ppl can't stop this on their own .

Depends. It sounds like you simply pick your eyebrows as an OCD type reaction. I might see an overly long eyebrow or my girlfriend notices it and I yank it out, but that' more of a grooming behavior done very infrequently. You on the other hand seem to yank at any hair on your brow?
