Is it normal to play with toys as an adult?

Im 25 years old but i have an amazing imagination. I have a massive GI Joe collection that i create storylines and epic action sequences with. I have a girlfriend, and we live in an apartment together. She doesnt seem to mind, but i wonder if she secretly thinks im a weirdo. Video games are too linear, and i dont like going to the club. Just smoking weed and playing with the Joes. Am i normal?

    I wish there were more people in this world who could find comfort in the simple things in life that used to make us all happy when we were kids. I'm almost 21 years old and I color in coloring books, watch old cartoons from my childhood on Youtube and sleep with a teddy bear.

    I think most hit the "not normal" button because normally, people don't do this. Just because it's not normal doesn't make it wrong. I, for one, would love to play with life-sized action figures ^_^

          That actually sounds pretty rad too. Giant stormtrooper battle?! Id prolly end up getting that scared feeling that they were gonna come to life while im sleeping and kill me or something. At least the Joes are only 3.75" tall. I could just stomp on them and they'd be dead. Haha

            i know this is 2 years later but if you do end up readin this i want to say i hope you are still doing what you enjoy fuck what people think i made a account just to say you dont want to be "normal" the normal mind is a mind made by conformists for conformists, all the greatest people in the world are abnormal, divine in there own way be formless my friend, PS i smoke weed and you just inspired me to get stoned and play with my old toys as a kid, also there are a few articles i read about the amazing mental benefits of playing no matter what age playing is good, so what if society frowns on it because i frown upon society, are society is a corruption, and they only people that are going to think you are weird are small minded people that cant understand that level of deepness, and trust me an opinion from a small mind is a opinion that is worthless, i am a openminded person and my opinion ia fuckking rock and roll broooo

              yeah, plus you gotta wait an hour for 1 friggin cupcake!!! Plus, how does that flex the imaginative muscle? Add powder, add water, pour into mold, wait an hour... ... ... decorate and eat.

    I think you're fine. It's normal-ish. Most people don't find comfort and fun in a plastic doll, but you do. And your girlfriend is wonderful for accepting you lay with GI Joes. Plus, I still watch My Little Ponies: Friendship is Magic and I'm 22. We all do something different.

    Yeah it's normal, If it's something you like. Besides it's not bad to play with toys, hell I still play with my collection of transformers and I especially like Transformers Beast Wars, I'm 24 too. Who cares what super serious, in a rush to grow up, super uptight people have to say about it.

    You only get one life, so enjoy it your way.

    I thought you weren't normal coz you limited yourself to smoking weed and I had a vision of you stoned and visualising the little characters in battle. I think the weed isn't normal but it's a super hobby and I'm glad you enjoy the GI Joes.

      I imagine smoking pot and playing with GI's a lot better than a guy who's hobby is getting drunk and beating his wife. That WOULD make me "normal" tho by definition...:)

        I'm sure if you asked if getting drunk and beating the wife was normal you'd find that it's not! It's the minority of men who give decent guys a bad name, and women too - who are stupid enough to stay with @ssholes like that.

        I just don't understand the 'need' to do drugs or alcohol or even cigarettes / gambling etc. There is nothing that 'demands' my time or money, except maybe my son ;o)

    I am the poster. I appreciate the supportive comments but id really rather know why so many people hit the "not normal" button. Is having an overactive imagination really something i should suppress? At least im not screwing children or eating my boogers or anything. I like playing with the Joes, whys that so wrong?

    You're being creative and having fun (and it doesn't hurt anybody). Nobody should criticise you for that. If people think you're a weirdo, they're probably just a bit closed-minded.

    I don't have any toys but I think about buying Lego all the time and I probably would if the technical Lego was less proscriptive.

      But thats the beauty of legos, you can buy a starwars or pirate set and just turn it into whatever you want. The possibilities are endless.

        The technical Lego just isn't as good any more. You buy a kit for a motorbike or a type of car and there's not much else you can do with it. When I was a kid, you got motors, gear trains, cogs, pulleys, etc., and there was no set thing to do with it. All you had was your imagination. It was fantastic! I made robots, diggers, spaceships...
