Is it normal to pop the little bumps around my nipples?

OK so ive basically admitted to myself that im a little weird about pimples and skin, i constantly pick and peel the skin around my nails, and pop every pimple/blackhead/whitehead i can reach, but recently (within the last year) ive noticed i can squeeze some of the little bumps around my nipples and a little white stuff will come out. Every time i undress i cant help but squeeze a few of them. Im just wondering if I'm the only one who has discovered this, or if im just the only weirdo who actually does it.

I have suffered with these embarrassing zits for 30 years. By accident I found a cure. My sister gave me nerium ad and I tried it on my nipples. It took about three weeks but, the pimples started to get smaller and smaller and most have disappeared. I am so happy! I have tried every zit cream on the market included retnel. God Bless this cream it works.
www.bigmama239.nerium.com they give you a 30 day money deal ...Good Luck my friends I hope you also have the same results. Peace out

I'm 15 and my nipples do that to. They have the dots and they some times itch, peel or crack and bleed. :/ Its really embarrassing and has caused me more selfesteem problems than it should. From articles I've read they say that its not good to pop them no matter how tempting it is, cause it can cause infection, and picking the skin off can scar them. I have eczema which is a skin condition that could possible be why mine peel and crack, but it doesn't explain to me why they have white dots. If anyone knows anything on this it would help sooo much and if there is anything I can do to cure or prevent it. Thank you.

I have eczema and I have same problem and I'm losing feeling and sense in my nipples . Its very embarrassing and hard to explain and especially with having ecZema they wanna put you on a whole bunch of creams an steroids . Don't put anything like that on them.. Use something like aquaphor or prescribed protopic(really expensive) is only things I've found to help. Mine used to also leak and stick to my bra but it stopped so I completely understand.

hello. i have ezcema and allergy as well. it is true for ezcema people to have very sensitive skin especially to the breast, and other parts where blood circulation isnt very good. the white stuff is actually the sebum which is stored in the mammary glands a.k.a the small bumps of the areola. it is advised NOT to POP the sebum out as it could cause further damage. for more info, pls see my overall comment down below this article. hope this helps.

The white dots are called Montgomery glands, I'm not really sure what they do exactly but they're not bad to have. I also have eczema, my nipples crack, peel and bleed, much like my problem areas. I personally use coconut oil on those areas and it seems to help, but it is greasy so if that's a problem for you maybe try something else. But I've started using it on my nipples too, and it's working fairly well.

    OKAY I GOOGLED IT; HERE:

    Bumps on areola (nipples circle)

If you worry about those 'funny bumps' on the areola, those are supposed to be there; they are called Montgomery glands or areolar skin glands. Their function is partially unknown, but scientists suppose they are there to lubricate the nipple/areola area.

These Montgomery glands can be about unnoticeable, OR stand out as bumps on the areola. They often become more prominent during pregnancy. Also, it appears they are white in some women.

Some women have squeezed them and can get a white substance out, but please do NOT squeeze them because that causes them to become infected.

In one study, it was noted that women with more areolar glands had better or more optimal breastfeeding start after delivery. They also noted that the glands were seen in virtually all women in the study but with great interindividual variations; their areolar distribution was nonrandom, and about 1/5 of the women had glands giving off a secretion (this is about women who have just given birth).

I had just google it as well out of curiosity! :) women have on average 9 bumps while some have none and some as many as 38. They are also right around the outside of the areola.

"A baby’s sense of smell is her most important sense to help her find your breasts. The smell of amniotic fluid (which is familiar to the baby) is supposedly similar to the secretion produce by Montgomery glands. It could be the smell of the secretion from the Montgomery glands that helps guide your baby to your breasts. Interestingly, the more Montgomery glands a mother has, the less time it takes for her baby to pick up the scent from them. Therefore it takes her less time to attach and begin feeding."

Just thought it was pretty interesting! :)

  • Oh my god I'm lonely right now. My fiance and I are moving in together on Tuesday, November 24th and as I am sitting at home feeling lonely, I am turned on by this thread for some reason.

    Gross.

Anyways, my fiance has these problems quite a bit in her breast area and it is a little worst for her "down below" region as she has a bad case of Psoriasis in her "bikini area." When the dead skin starts cracking and coming off, I beg for her to go see a doctor and get some more oinkment but that is another topic.

Your topic though, every person, EVERY SINGLE ONE, has a skin problem here or bumps there at least once in a while. You are perfectly normal for having bumps her or pimples there. Just take care of them in an appropriate manner and let it go in your mind when you are done dealing with it.

Whats worst, and I am a guy but I will mention something GUYS tend to have to do that they never talk about and it is gross. My body is rather hairy and every girl I have ever been with loves it. Fine, I am okay with this but why the hell does the longer hair in the buttcrack region attract poopballs?

Also, try pulling the hair out of your asscrack for an extreme discomfort to get rid of this problem when the poopballs show up. Also, don't say I could just shave the area because I truly cannot see my ass from my point of view, so how could I shave my ass crack? There is nothing like grabbing poopballs out of your ass to brighten up your day. Sad thing is, my fiance is fastinated by this and she wants to see what I pull out so she asks me to do this in front of her or save them. Which of these two options is worst?
    --------------------
Gross, I know, but odds are you are laughing, at least a little and that story is true. The truth is that we all have little things wrong with us and the truly more attractive people know how to deal with this crap easier than the rest of us. You are fine and you should relax.

But then again, I'm a guy so what the hell do I know?

It is not normal to have "poopballs" you need to wipe your ass better. Maybe look into getting your ass waxed if the hair is that long that it is trapping your poo in it. That is NOT normal.

the bumps on your areola, or the area of skin around your nipple, are normal. They are called Montgomery's tubercules or glands of montgomery. They essentially are sort of like pimples--but they have a purpose. They are believed to secrete oils to help keep the nipple and it's surrounding areas lubricated, and to help prevent infection and maintain elasticity. If you ever become pregnant, these will enlarge and will play an even more important role in breastfeeding. While an infection could come from picking at these things---esp. when you may have bacteria under your nails that you are unaware of, it would be best to stop popping them.

Ok I'm a girl and i know what you mean, ive done it before a couple times but I feel like it should be left alone anywhoooo....budthewise........ Dude I'm sorry but u sound like a major douchbag. I've seen some of your comments on here ( the whole iin site in general )and they are so outa left freaking field. You know nothing about the womans body, you don't treat your girl right and she's gotta have issues if she's with you. Ummmm ya to the girl who posted this, it's normal but don't get carried away. Mother nature gave you those bumps for a reason, there linked to glands that will one day secrete milk if you become prego. Your able to squeeze stuff out of it cause the pores are pretty big and oil and dirt into it. Your fine, budthewidse, not so much.

to be precised, it is normal for the areola to have small bumps. the umps are called mammary gland. it is however not adviced to pop them out like you would to a pimple, blackhead and oil seed. this is because it could damage your areola. a few days ago, i felt irritation on my areaola so i rubbed/scratched gently a few times. but just today there was a small milky yellow substance that was stuck to one of my bumps. i was irritated and popped it out., leaving a small hole that hopefully will close up within 1 to 2 days. my advise is not to take any further damage by popping your bumps any longer.

idk I mean I know people say it's unhealthy to squeeze the white stuff out of them, but I've been doing it for like 8 years and I've never had any issues or had any infection. so idk

Im 16 and when I was in the shower today I found a brownish dot on my nipple. I squeezed it, like I would a pimple, and a thick puss like substance came out. I've seen the things that everyone else is commenting about, but I think this is something different. I'm really scared because I found three more after the shower! Someone please help!!!

Bud, holy crap, the poopball story is really disturbing, lol. I don't want to know anything even remotely relating to my boyfriend's poop! Ewwww.

Anyways, I honestly have never heard about bumps like this around the nipples before. I don't know if the poster means pimples or what. But I'm not a doctor, or even a nurse yet. I'm in school to be a medical assistant and an LPN. But I do know that psoriasis is a chronic disease of the immune system in which there is a rapid overgrowth of skin cells. This causes the inflammation and redness and scaly patches. There are topical treatments for it but you have to be consistent with it, and it's more effective for some people than others. Plus, psoriasis can be exacerbated by a lot of factors like stress, smoking, drinking alcohol, etc.

There are oral medications too that work by suppressing the immune system, but anytime you suppress the immune system, obviously she's going to have to be really careful about exposing herself to germs and people that are ill. I think it's called Enbril...or Enbrel or something like that.

Either way, psoriasis is an actual disease that you can't treat on your own, so she's gotta go to the doc. She should really get it checked out though because certain forms of it can begin to affect the joints as well.

    • Yeah, that was my point but to make people laugh and lighten up the mood and I am glad to see it worked. Thank you for your comment about the psirosis though. I have got on her about it and she is using a "cream" or something to get rid of it, which isn't working.

My point, I think, was that people will accept you for who you are but be a good person on the inside.

Picking and popping your skin is not good for health reasons. Your skin is actually an organ of your body designed to keep germs and infection out, and keep all of your internal organs safe inside. Over-picking and popping can compromise your skin's ability to function properly, leading to a possible infection.

As for the level of normal, many people (especially women) pick/pop. I struggle with trickatilamania, and I pull my eyelashes and eyebrows out constantly. I think that the best cure for these crazy things, is not to worry about being normal, but to think about being healthy.

Good luck, and I bet that if anyone tried hard enough to squeeze their nipples, something would be bound to come out.

    • Your profile states that you are a medical student. Do you happen to know anything my fiance could use to CURE her Psoriasis or at least make it dormant and not really showable? It is rather disturbing to look at.
