Is it normal to pray for your enemies?

Mainly question for Believers, or people who live by the Bible or follow Christanity: Why does the Bible say you should pray for your enemies? Is that normal? If someone was a legitimate scumbag/Asshole to you, why would the Bible say you should pray for people who wrong you or do you no good?? Basically, is it normal to pray for your enemies or people who have did nothing for you in your past history?

I've always taken it as instruction to try to be empathetic. There's a good chance that people who hurt you/want to hurt you are damaged or struggling in their own way. Praying for your enemies is essentially praying that they'll be able to move past whatever is going on in their life that makes them want to hurt others

I think so, though it's definitely hard and goes against human emotion. Honestly though, hurting people hurt people, and they probably need the prayers so that they can become better people and no longer feel the need to hurt others.

It is also said that we should love our enemies. Of course, these things must be understood in the proper manners. Like, what does 'love' mean? Well, put simply, 'to love' is to 'will what is good for'. So, one must will what is good for one's enemies. The same is true regarding praying for one's enemies. One must pray for what is good for one's enemies. It is worth noting that 'what is good for' is not defined as 'what is wanted by', but as 'what is best for the salvation of'.

I have done it. I'm not saying it's easy, but I've done it.

    that they may either:

see the errors of their ways and grow to become better people who would not be led to be my enemy in the first place

or get hit in the crotch by a freight train

It has real world application. If you hate your enemy it just causes more stress. I notice when someone wrongs me it stresses me out more when i have hatred for them.

        That's correct.
Anyone who hurts me I believe they shouldn't exist.
