Is it normal to prefer animal company over human bonding?
Sometimes I can just sit for hours on end getting along with my cats, looking lovingly into their eyes. The majority of the time I enjoy it more than chatting to a friend/family member.

Animals never lie. They don't pretend to love you when secretly they don't. If someone else strokes them, you don't get jealous. If they don't like your cooking, they don't force it down, making pained faces and then remind you three years hence of the time you made vegetable teriyaki and it tasted like vomit. They don't talk about you behind your back. They don't secretly take out a loan in both your names then run off and saddle you with years of debt. They don't judge you on your looks. They don't care if you fart; they do it too. They make you laugh without trying. They make you love without trying.
I agree, my dog loves me unconditionally, its not even an effort or a chore for him. There is no capacity for lying, cheating or stealing in them.
The feeling is mutual for me as well.
i think it's normal. I'd rather be with my pets over people any day. People are annoying. But, pets...they love you no matter what. :)
I feel the same sometimes. Animals love you if you pet them and feed them. Humans aren't always appreciative.
And yeah, if unicorns were existant I'd totally get one! Maybe they'd talk; they're magical, right? :)
