depends on the dub, personally some are better dubbed, and some are awesome subbed
If its in a language you understand, then it's normal. Some animes are dubbed so poorly thar theyrd better off watched subbed though.
It really depends on the anime for me. I refuse, absolutely refuse to continue to watch the English version of Sailor Moon (the acting was terrible, and they changed WAY too much, in order to make it more "family friendly"). HOWEVER, there are some damn good anime dubs (Death Note, FLCL, and I will admit I prefer the English version of Inuyasha, with Kagome as an exception...hate that voice!)
I perfer it in english as well but sometimes the english version sucks. All depends on the anime.
I think you're normal. I multi-task a lot so I need to HEAR what's being said or else I have no idea what's happening. Subs require your full attention to the screen. And there are some good voice actors in your own language! Do you know what's fun turn on the dub and the sub. The words don't match it's hilarious.
Have you heard the original Dragonball Z? Goku sounds like a kid! I can't stand it!
I've watched some good dubs, but mostly just because the other person wouldn't wanna read subtitles.
I like subs because i enjoy Japanese and i think listening to the real language adds a lot to the character.
So, yeah -it's normal, but I can't agree with that.
I don't think it's normal because most anime dubs are pretty awful, lacking alot of heart and soul.
Only when they get real actors does it make it better. They usually do that for Miyazaki movies and while I can enjoy the dub of Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke I'd still much rather hear the Japanese voice actors and read subtitles.
I prefer dubbed too. I hate when weeaboos or (however you spell it) get mad when you like the version in you're own language better, and say the Japanese voice actors are more passionate.
I'm weird. I could never watch a foreign film with anything other than subtitles but I'm much more tolerant with anime. If they've made a good job of the dub, I might even prefer it. After all, with anime, it's all been drawn. It's not like a normal film where someone has pointed a camera at something. Someone has gone to the effort of drawing everything you see and I feel I should be looking at that, rather than at subtitles.
I dont care much about what language they talk if its japanese english or whatever if i like it i watch it i do prefer it in german though...
