Is it normal to prepare for every possible outcome in a conversation?

Before I go and talk to someone, I always think about the possible responses they might give me and decide what ill say to each one before talking to them. Sometimes I practice what ill say out loud to myself so I wont forget. I think it makes me feel less anxious about initiating conversations if I know what to say before actually speaking to someone. I even like to prepare what ill say to someone in case they give me a happy response, not just negative. Is this normal?

EVERY possible one? Not really possible but at least trying to do so is normal.

I do that too when I need to have a serious conversation (only at work, though). I first take notes about all the important topics I have to cover and if it seems like it'll be especially difficult I practice with a co-worker friend who knows what I'm talking about and agrees with our workplace issues.

Only thing is that last time I did it my friend met up with the coordinator-boss before me and stole one of my arguments!!! Argh! LOL

Don't you hate that!! I had a colleague who asked to meet before a staff meeting so we could make sure we were "aligned." Turns out she stole the ideas I shared in our pre-meeting and took credit for them. I think our management knew better, but still! She asked for a similar pre-meeting before the next staff meeting and I nicely declined!

I was so pissed at him!!! It was just a matter of wording an opinion/criticism beautifully, but still... At least he told me before I met up with management and I had plenty others to work with! Now I don't consult with anyone from the school anymore, only with non-co-working friends!
