Is it normal to pull at your hair until some comes out?

In my English class, I've noticed when I'm not paying attention I sort of tug aimlessly at my hair, look at my fingers to see if any have pulled out, and flick my fingers to the ground. Then I started doing that to my eyebrows and eyelashes as well. I found out my brother had the same problem because I found a bunch of hairs lying in the bathroom trash can that looked like they belonged to him. I think it's called trichotillomania, but it's not to the point where I have patchy spots of hair. This just doesn't seem very mentally healthy. Can anyone let me know?

Trichotillomania. Obsessively pulling out your hair.

Annnnd... you said that in your post. Sorry, I didn't catch that. I didn't read that far in, but no, it's not normal. You should speak with a doctor before it gets worse.

I think it's just more of a hygiene thing. Since I was a kid, I thought that if I pulled out the loose hairs, stronger hairs would replace them. Sort of like natural selection.

Yeah, if he only had twenty 4" pubes I'd believe it.

Is it normal for me to stab myself, repeatedly, in the hand with a letter opener on occasion for funsies? These things just happen.
