Is it normal to pull out eyelashes?

Sometimes I feel like I have too many eyelashes and they get irritating and I'll just start pulling several out until all the loose ones are gone. It's not a significant amount and I don't look weird afterward by any stretch of the imagination. Is that normal?

i'm on the fence here. i wouldn't say that it's normal, but i do much the same with eyebrows. it sometimes feels as if one is... stu=k, ina sense, and it hurts, so i try to pull it out... again and again. i'v ehad bald splotches... i also do it for facial hai and the hair on the forfront of my knuckles. i get one or two small ones, but feel compelled to pull them out. don't be like me.

There's a psychological disorder where you pull your hair out.. I think renabee mentioned it. You might want to see a psychologist/psychiatrist, if at all possible.

As you get older, the eyelashes or hair you pull out will not grow back. You don't want to have zero eyelashes, do you?

SO MANY PEOPLE want thick eyelashes. Rejoice! You're the desired type!

Sounds like trichotillomania as ProseAthlete said. I've had trich for a few years now. I started pulling my eyebrows when I was about 15 and gradually I started to pull my head hair. I have a few bald spots and it isn't fun at all. I would try your very hardest to ease out of this habit before it gets worse.

No one can diagnose you via IIN, but it kind of sounds like a mild case of trichotillomania. It's a hair-pulling thing related to OCD. For people with mild cases, it isn't enough to affect their lives and isn't a big deal at all. Other people who pull head or body hairs can find it socially debilitating.

If that's what's going on with you, rejoice -- you have the mildest possible version of it. Just keep an eye on your lashes (no pun intended) and if the pulling ever feels like it's getting out of hand or affecting your appearance, you may want to talk to your doctor about it.

I do sometimes but not because I think I have too many. I think I have insufficient lashes actually but if one isn't cooperating when I do my makeup i will pluck that unruly bitch out. I shouldn't though.
