Is it normal to ramble all the time?

I throw sooooo many details into what I say, that I can feel people losing interest in what I say as I am saying it. Thing is, I feel like the details are necessary until I am done saying it. I can tell a story for an hour, and then immediatly realize I could have said 'this guy shot his friend over a fishing pole' and it would have relayed the same exact story. Is it normal to ramble so much and is there any advice on how to stop?

  • Gold is worth much because it's rarely seen.

In my experience, it's those who talk the most who have the least to say.

My mom does this. It's agonizing listening to her. Consequence: I DON'T listen to much of what she says. Just get to the point, if I have a question (or GIVE a shit) about the details, I'll ask.

I have the urge to do this too. Sometimes it's because i think that the other person haven't fully understood what I'm trying to say and other times it's because it's a subject i'm passionate about.

  • I do this a lot too. It sucks because people do become less interested in what you're saying. Think about what details are most important to you. The facts that made the biggest impression on you when you're recalling the experience. Thats a good way to boil it down. Also, focus more on their feedback, and what they might have to say. For me that helps the most.

Hah. I do this too, so it's normal. I wouldn't want to stop it, though. Details are important.
