Is it normal to read a word, then say it in your head backwards?

I have this habit which had developed recently... it's where I see a word written somewhere, like a sign on a cafe window or a heading in a book, then in my mind I think it backwards. For example, I see a sign saying "Toilets" and in my mind I think "Steliot" because my mind reverses the word. It's not a bad thing at all, but is it normal?

I did this at school. A friend and I got so good at it that we could speak backwards almost as fast as forwards. We said the rudest things to people and got away with it entirely. Best was telling a teacher: "Sip fo ooy diputs dratsab".

Dratsab was our absolute favourite word.

I think you're going to end up being very annoying to yourself if you continue this.

I have OCD and do something similar to you. When I see words on signs, on commercials, on books, etc., in my head I repeat the words in very specific pattern. For example, if I see a sign that says "Call now for a free trial" I say it in my head like this:

Call now for a free trial

Lairt eerf a rof won lac

Lairt eerf a rof won lac

Call now for a free trial

That might not even make sense to anyone. Basically, I can say any word backwards. It's quite annoying and can be exhausting!

I used to do that a lot as well. I still do, in fact, when coming across new names, trying them out backwards. I'd be interested to know whether you do it phonetically or the way it's written, e.g. a word like "television"

I've never heard of this, but it does sound fun. (:

I have never met anybody who does this before, but maybe it just means that you are creative such that you are finding new ways to entertain or challenge yourself. Anyways, good luck with this odd habit.

WEIRD! For the past year or so, I've done this many times. My friends and I usually do this to names, especially for celebrities.

For example, Jon Stewart would turn into Ston Jewart lmao. And Charles Barkley would turn into Barles Charkley.
