Is it normal to roleplay a pretend character on the internet?

Last week, I decided to, for fun, make a YouTube channel for a completely pretend character that isn't like me in any way. I'm basically role-playing a character I made up on the Internet by speaking with its personality and such. Also, on the channel I gave it my character's theme.

I'm not a troll, and I'm just doing it for fun and to see if people will believe that this pretend YouTuber is real and not a figment of someone else's imagination... a couple have, and its interesting to know this. I just want to know if it sounds normal - is it?

    Me too. I created a character called "dappled" on that IIN site thingie and decided to make him a less shy version of my real self.

    I refer to myself as a dragoon and sometimes a knight in regular conversation. Does weird people out? Absolutely. Do I actually give a damn? Absolutely NOT.

    Yea. I do it all the time. But this one time, at band camp, I brought my netbook. I had a little bit too much fruit punch to drink, so I got crazy. I made a video about myself being a trumpet, but I'm really a trombone!!! It's crazy because I don't actually play the trumpet! I wondered the same thing that I'd people wondered if I actually played the trumpet!
