Is it normal to search out and find people online?

I had a crush on this guy, and since he was much too old for me, there was no way it would ever work out. We barely knew each other anyways. I used people searches to find him online because I was curious about him. Now I know where he lives and how old he is. I'm even friends with him on MySpace, though I'm anonymous there and he doesn't know who I am. I don't think I'm being a stalker, exactly - he's a nice guy and I'm happy with what little friendly contact we have. But is this sort of thing normal, or am I being creepy?

    It depends on how you know him and what you know about him.
    I don't think you are being creepy. The internet makes it so easy to do these things and it can be satisfying, connecting with somebody from a safe distance.
    As long as you don't take it too far and start to do/say things that might freak him out, then this sounds normal enough.
    You don't say whether you have met him in real life or whether he is maybe just a bit of a local well-known person.
    If you have met him, and can meet him again, why don't you just get to know him a bit more in real life rather than on MySpace?
    You might have a crush on him but it will show him more some respect if you don't start to be a real-life stalker.
