Is it normal to sleep away your problems?

The last few days have been really hard for me, I've lost pretty much all my friends as well as my girlfriend. I can't find anything that makes me happy anymore. The only thing I can do to pass the time that doesn't hurt is sleeping, since i don't have to think about anything. I feel like the longer I'm awake, the more I wish I wasn't.

If I'm asleep I don't have to be myself. I don't have to mess anything else up. But is that, like... okay?

It's a great temporary coping mechanism that many use.

It is a problem if it goes long term. At that point you need to be working with some kind of counselor to better resolve whatever the issue is.

This is how I handle stress much of the time and always have. It wears me out and I get the deepest sleep of my life. Everything also seems okay during those times as long as you're asleep. It's a way to escape reality.

I'm not sure that it would be healthy long term, however. Unfortunately, we all have to face our problems at some point and try to tackle them rather than avoid them. Since the things you describe that seem to have caused this happened so recently, I'm sure you'll be able to when you're ready, though. Typically, the sleeping phase is pretty temporary for me.

I'm really sorry for everything going on in your life right now, and I hope things get better for you soon.

This is going to be too harsh for someone like you, but you really need to get over it.

You're that stressed over a couple of people? Really?

If it goes on for months then it's a problem. Otherwise, it seems pretty normal
