Is it normal to smell this bad.

We have a new co-worker at the office. Decent guy, easy to talk to. But I'm not gonna lie, he smells like feces, 100% of the time. It wasn't too bad the first day he was working but has progressively gotten worse and worse.

Some of our admin team have talked to him about hygiene and he says he's aware of it. Claims he showers twice a day, changes his clothes between shifts, uses deodorant ect.

His story about what causes it seems to change though. From pills to a disease, ect. This guy is pretty cool, but I honestly hope he just gets booted. I thought i could suck it up, but he clears out the lunch room. Literally. We never used to carry Febreeze in the office, but now we have 3 bottles on the vending machine, one at each of our stations. He had a few questions about work, so I jumped in to help out. But after just a few minutes i had to leave, I threw up in my mouth and my clothes even started to smell.

This can't be normal, and I am not sure what to do. I kind of want to push for him to be relocated or be allowed to work from home *Which some people on our staff on disability do* What should I do?

    Maybe he has problems with hes teeth. People who have damaged teeth have a breath that smells like faces. If that smell comes from his mouth then you should request him to go to the dentist.

    I watched some sort of show about this once. Apparently some people excrete a really vile smell from their sweat glands and they can't control it. It's caused by the overproduction of TMA and it can apparently smell like rotting fish or other foul smells. A lot of people lie about this condition, because they are embarrassed, so they will make up stories to try and convince others that they don't ALWAYS smell like that, it's only because of something recent.

    Put an official complaint in against him and get other people to as well. With 2 or 3 they will have to fire the poor bastard.

    Poor guy, hope he figures out the issue but by the sound of it there's nothing more he can try to do. I hope he doesn't get fired for something seemingly out of his control, but maybe yeah, relocation or telecommuting would be best for everyone. I am sure he is embarrassed daily. :(

    take a crap in a brown bag and place it in his desk drawer. that way he too can smell what you are smelling and maybe take the hint!

    You could pick up mouth breathing while he's in the vicinity, get a good pair of nose plugs or a scuba mask. Carry around some decent smelling cologne and when you're around him discreetly spray him with it. Maybe get some soap and bring a loofa and while he's in the bathroom attack him with it.
